Speed restrictions on Nottingham London rail routes because of high track temperatures

There are speed restrictions because of high track temperatures, disrupting trains on the Sheffield – Nottingham – London route.
Network Rail have teams monitoring the temperature and condition of the track, they will adjust the speed restrictions accordingly.

EMR said:

‘Our focus is to enable you to travel safely on our railway.

High temperatures can cause the rails to expand and buckle; you can learn more about this here: Why rail tracks buckle in the heat in the UK

‘As these temperatures are expected to continue throughout the day, we strongly recommend you allow extra time for your journey and only travel if necessary.’

How does this affect my train?

Trains on our Intercity route will run at a reduced speed and are expected to be delayed by up to 60 minutes.
This is expected to remain in place for the duration of Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th July.
