The Meadows drugs raids lead to supply and possession charges

A suspect has appeared in court after police carried out a series of warrants and seized Class A drugs.


Officers, acting on intelligence, executed the searches at Nottingham addresses on Thursday, 8 January.


As well as recovering the Class A drug cocaine from a property on Cleveland Close, Nottingham, officers also seized the Class B drug cannabis, phones, and drug paraphernalia.


At one of the addresses on Colliery Close, The Meadows, drugs suspected to be cocaine and cannabis, as well as a baton, were recovered.


A further warrant was conducted at Kirby Gardens, The Meadows, where scales, phones, and suspected cannabis were seized.

A 41-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, Class B drugs, and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.


A 49-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.
Both have been released on bail with strict conditions as the investigation continues.


Anthony McGuire, of Cleveland Close, Nottingham, has been charged with possession with intent to supply the Class A drug cocaine, the Class B drug cannabis, and the Class B drug cannabinoid receptor agonists.


The 57-year-old appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday (9 January) and has been remanded in custody until his next appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on 6 February.


Detective Constable Maddie Hughes, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:


“Teams across the force are working hard every day to disrupt drug supply and associated criminality through proactive work like this.


“We believe these warrants and the consequent charge that has followed are an important step, and I hope residents welcome our response.”
