Despite a very different landscape for 2020 results, East Leake Academy – part of the Diverse Academies Trust – is again celebrating another outstanding set of A Level results.

As the sixth form centre continues to build upon its high success rate, students again achieved a 100% pass rate. Academic attainment rose at the academy with students achieving 86% A*-C grades and an impressive 66% gaining A*-B grades. Achievement of A* and A grades also rose to over 33%.

These superb results mean many will now take up their places at both Russell Group and top universities, as well as going on to undertake higher level apprenticeships.

One of this year’s top performers, Ben Gill, achieved two A* grades in economics and maths with As in further maths and physics. He will be taking up his place at University College London (UCL) to study economics. He said: “I am extremely thrilled with my results and am looking forward to the next chapter of my education and attending UCL.”

I honestly can’t believe my results and am so excited about taking up my place at Sheffield.”

Tom Richards is another high-flyer with A* grades in chemistry and maths and an A in biology. He will be studying chemistry with research and industry at the University of Liverpool. Tom commented that he was “super excited” with his results.

Extremely hard work over the last two years enabled Pippa Howes to achieve two A* grades in biology and her Extended Project Qualification with A grades in maths and chemistry. With a keen interest in the sciences, she will now go on to study chemistry at the University of St Andrews. Pippa said: “I’m delighted with the results and am thrilled to have made it into St Andrews.”

Principal, Blake Francis, said: “Due to the uncertainty around this year’s results, this has been a particularly worrying time for our sixth form students and we are therefore delighted that East Leake Academy has built upon its A Level record of success and our students have achieved another set of top grades.

“Despite their final year being cut short, our students worked extremely hard during their time in the sixth form. We couldn’t be more proud of them and hope that they can now move forward positively to achieve their personal aspirations for the future, whether that be by going on to university, apprenticeships or securing work. We wish them all the best in their future journey.”

The academy invites any students yet to secure a place with a post 16 provider for this September or students considering their post-GCSE options to visit www.eastleake-ac.org.uk or email sixthform@eastleake-ac.org.uk for more information.
