Two people were arrested yesterday on Sunday 2 August after cannabis plants were found at an address in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
Police visited a property in Queensway, Kirkby, shortly after 1pm yesterday afternoon and discovered a small cannabis grow in the garden soon afterwards.A man and a woman, both aged 30, were arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation.
Sixteen cannabis plants were removed from the property and destroyed.
Inspector Mark Dickson, Ashfield district commander, said: “Tackling the illegal use and supply of drugs is one of our key neighbourhood priorities. That’s because residents are regularly telling us that they are concerned about the crime and antisocial behaviour that goes with it.
“We know they are also upset by the pungent and unpleasant smell given off by the cannabis smoke when it wafts into their gardens and through their open windows. Consequently we have a zero tolerance approach to this kind of activity.
“Our communities play an important role in providing us with information on suspicious activity and I would encourage anyone who sees anything suspicious to get in touch with Nottinghamshire Police via 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
