The UK summary has been updated to show 7-day totals for cases, deaths, hospital admissions and virus tests.

Between 21 February 2022 and 27 February 2022, there have been 4,638,642 tests. This shows a decrease of -17.8% compared to the previous 7 days.

Cases

A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

Between 22 February 2022 and 28 February 2022, 234,103 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows a decrease of -24.3% compared to the previous 7 days.

Vaccinations

Vaccines are currently given in 3 doses.

52,628,660 people had been given a first dose by the end of 27 February 2022.

49,000,222 people had been given a second dose by the end of 27 February 2022.

38,211,911 people had been given a booster or third dose by the end of 27 February 2022.

Healthcare

Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.

Between 16 February 2022 and 22 February 2022, 7,873 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows a decrease of -10.3% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 10,656 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 25 February 2022.

Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.

There were 271 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 25 February 2022.

Deaths

Between 22 February 2022 and 28 February 2022, there have been 752 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows a decrease of -25.2% compared to the previous 7 days.
