Tests

Testing is where we do a test to see who has coronavirus. Some people are tested more than once.

Between 6 April 2022 and 12 April 2022, there have been 3,014,655 tests. This shows a decrease of -24.0% compared to the previous 7 days.

Cases

A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

Between 7 April 2022 and 13 April 2022, 253,456 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows a decrease of -34.9% compared to the previous 7 days.

Vaccinations

Vaccines are currently given in 3 doses.

52,959,181 people had been given a first dose by the end of 12 April 2022.

49,580,222 people had been given a second dose by the end of 12 April 2022.

39,009,357 people had been given a booster or third dose by the end of 12 April 2022.

Healthcare

Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.

Between 3 April 2022 and 9 April 2022, 15,732 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows a decrease of -4.9% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 19,770 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 12 April 2022.

Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.

There were 385 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 12 April 2022.

Deaths

Between 7 April 2022 and 13 April 2022, there have been 1,951 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 63.4% compared to the previous 7 days.
