The park closed on Monday 20 January to visitors – some parts may reopen before the work has been completed.

The works, which began recently, are expected to be completed before February half-term, ensuring families can benefit from the upgraded facilities in time for the holiday.
The new inclusive equipment being installed includes wheelchair-accessible roundabouts, inclusive seesaws, and other exciting additions to cater to children of all abilities.

This project is part of the Council’s broader investment in play areas, following enhancements at Rushcliffe Country Park, Boundary Road and Greythorn Park in West Bridgford, and Adbolton Lane Playground in Lady Bay.
Future upgrades are also planned for Bridgfield Park and West Park in West Bridgford.
The improvements stem from feedback gathered in a Council survey, where residents and parkgoers shared their priorities for local parks. Additionally, an RBC consultation on play parks conducted earlier this year will inform the Council’s upcoming Play Strategy, helping shape further investments in community facilities.

Cllr Jonathan Wheeler, Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure & Wellbeing, ICT & Member Development, said:
“We’re proud to invest in our parks, and it’s great news that work is starting on one of our most popular sites, Bridgford Park.
“It will welcome accessible equipment such as the wheelchair-friendly roundabouts and inclusive see-saws that are important to help ensure all children, regardless of their abilities, can enjoy our play parks.
“Our investment in community play facilities such as these demonstrates our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our residents and visitors, and will ensure our play park continues to be fantastic for all families to enjoy.”
The works are being carried out by Proludic Ltd, a playground equipment supplier based in Bunny, who have designed the updated features to ensure they meet the needs of the local community.
