A fire in the open has been reported near the A453 Barton in Fabis area.
Firefighters have worked into the night to contain a large blaze at Barton-in-Fabis after flames reportedly reached around 20 feet in height and began spreading towards a neighbouring property.
The incident commander requested six fire crews, three specialist wildfire units and a water bowser during the initial response.
Thick smoke from the fire could reportedly be seen several miles away, with sightings from Chilwell Retail Park and Trowell.
Crews used four hose reel jets, a main firefighting jet, specialist wildfire equipment and small tools to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading further.
Firefighters remained at the scene several hours after the initial response, with checks for remaining hot spots continuing into Sunday evening.

“Thank you to everyone who has reported the current fire over in the fields near the reserve. The fire brigade are aware an dealing with it. Please be extra vigilant during these warm days and report any fires by calling 999.”
