The Met Office has issued this weather warning for Monday 13 March.
The warning is in place now until 6 pm today.
The warning states:
‘Southwesterly winds will widely gust to between 50 and 55 mph with gusts reaching 60 to 65 mph over some exposed coasts and hills.
‘The highest gusts are expected between mid-morning and mid-afternoon.’
Today: Monday 13 March
A bright start on Monday but quickly turning cloudy, with rain arriving from the west by mid-morning. Winds will increase, with gales in places, and outbreaks of rain will continue through the day, turning heavy at times. Maximum temperature 13 °C.
Tonight:
Spells of rain will continue this evening, turning wintry over hills in the early hours of the morning before clearing around dawn. Strong winds will gradually ease. Minimum temperature 0 °C.
Tuesday:
A cold but sunny start, with frost and icy surfaces possible. Isolated wintry showers are possible from late morning, with brisk winds, fading early evening ahead of a cold night. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:
Bright and frosty Wednesday morning, then cloud increasing, with rain arriving during the evening. Thursday and Friday mild with further spells of rain.
