West Bridgford A60 through to Ruddington to see resurfacing and repairs under new council scheme

Residents and road users in Ruddington are set to benefit from significant improvements along the A60 Loughborough Road, with two major schemes now confirmed as part of Nottinghamshire County Council’s highways capital programme.

The works include the resurfacing of the busy A60 Loughborough Road / Mere Way roundabout, alongside surface dressing along the A60 from the A52 Nottingham Knight roundabout through to the C99 Flawforth Lane / B680 Kirk Lane junction.

Conservative County Councillor Andy Brown has welcomed the investment, having raised concerns about the condition of these sections of the highway with council officers over a number of years.

“These are key parts of our local road network, and I have consistently pushed for them to be prioritised for improvement. Given the volume of traffic using both the A60 and the Mere Way roundabout, it is vital that they are maintained to a high standard.

“I am very pleased to see these schemes now confirmed.”

The resurfacing of the Mere Way roundabout will restore the condition of the carriageway and improve skid resistance at one of the area’s busiest junctions. Meanwhile, the surface dressing works along the wider stretch of the A60 will provide a cost-effective way of extending the life of the road, improving safety and helping to prevent more serious deterioration.

Together, the schemes are expected to enhance safety, reliability, and driving conditions for residents, businesses, and the many commuters who rely on this key route each day.

Cllr Brown added:

“These improvements will make a real difference to the condition of the road and help ensure this important route remains safe and fit for purpose. I will continue to work closely with officers to ensure the works are delivered and that further improvements are brought forward where needed.”

The announcement comes alongside a wider focus on highway maintenance across Nottinghamshire, including a winter preventative maintenance programme enacted previously under the Conservative administration, aimed at improving the condition of roads and speeding up repairs.
