Resurfacing work and other improvements to the Bridgford Road car park are well underway.
Contractors have removed the old surface as they prepare to install the new one and repaint bays at the car park next to West Bridgford Library and Young People’s Centre on Bridgford Road.
The car park is closed until Friday 14 June.
Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Environment & Safety Cllr Inglis said: “We’re resurfacing Bridgford Road Car Park in the coming weeks to help smooth and maintain the road surface enabling it to be sustainable for many years to come.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this temporary closure for the duration of the works to allow a contractor on site each day.
“The works have deliberately been scheduled to not clash with local sports or larger events and we’re very much aware of the knock-on effect this will have on the town centre.
“Business owners and our partners at Bridgford Hall have been notified of the plans and are informing customers, wedding bookings and other parties so they can make other arrangements.
“Visitors can still access our other car parks on Albert Road and Gordon Road in West Bridgford and a temporary car park at Bridge Field will be open weather dependent.
“We encourage the use of public transport wherever possible with excellent bus links to the town centre.”
Nursery Car Park, Albert Road and Gordon Road Car Park in the town remain open as usual.
Temporary parking is also available at Bridge Field, nearby on Bridgford Road during the works from 7am to 7pm weather permitting. A plastic surface has recently been installed under the entrance lanes to the Bridge Field area to minimise mud and damage.
