Thraves, operated by The Rock Church at Lutterell Hall will close next month.
The business announced today:
‘It is with great regret that we announce the closure of our coffee shop at Lutterell Hall – Thraves Lounge & Bar. Our last day of operation will be Friday, 9th May.
‘We have loved being able to offer this space to the community and have built wonderful friendships over the two years of its operation—especially with our lovely regulars.
‘However, like so many other small businesses, we’re feeling the pinch—or rather, the squeeze—to the point where the business is no longer financially viable.
‘As a wider operation, Lutterell Hall has always been willing to subsidise the coffee shop to some extent, as it helped us achieve important community objectives. Unfortunately, the current cost-of-living crisis and the resultant increase in the living wage have left us with no alternative.
‘And so, the end of a small era has arrived. Sadly, jobs have been lost, and our regulars are now receiving this very difficult news.
‘As a non-profit, community-based organisation, we continue to offer all our usual excellent services—clubs, classes, and room hire for parties, weddings, and more (with Thraves still available as part of our hire packages). These services remain entirely unaffected. In fact, closing Thraves allows us to focus even more on our core business, ensuring we maintain the high standards that make Lutterell Hall a valued hub for the people of West Bridgford and beyond.’
