It’s a moment of celebration and history in the making as West Bridgford’s Marie Hall marks a significant milestone not only in her remarkable career but also for the hairdressing industry as a whole.
Chosen from a pool of 108 applicants by Wella Professionals, Marie was selected to participate in the first-ever SCQF Level 9 qualification in hairdressing, a groundbreaking programme equivalent to a university bachelor’s degree at Level 6.
For Marie, one of the most memorable moments of her journey was visiting the testing centre in Darmstadt, Germany, the very place where the products she relies on are developed and tested. Gaining a behind-the-scenes look at the innovation and care that goes into each product was an unforgettable experience, offering her a new level of appreciation and insight.
This November, Marie will proudly graduate from the prestigious University of Glasgow’s Bute Hall, an occasion that represents years of dedication, passion, and commitment to professional growth. Known for her relentless pursuit of excellence, Marie has never been one to chase trophies or the spotlight. Her true motivation lies in constantly evolving and refining her craft to better serve the clients who place their trust in her every day. For those who know her well, this achievement marks the culmination of a lifelong philosophy: to learn and continually grow.
Her journey began at 16, never dreaming it would lead to this point. Marie was already a pioneer when she became the first in Nottingham to receive the coveted Wella Colour Expert title. Now, she raises the bar even higher, becoming the first in Nottingham and the first in the entire Midlands region to earn this new, degree-level qualification, cementing her status as a true trailblazer.

Adding to the celebration, Marie’s salon will mark its 25th anniversary on 1 December, a testament to her ambitious spirit, having launched her business at the age of just 22. Over the years, she has collaborated on photo shoots with Wella and worked alongside some of the industry’s most respected names.
As she prepares to walk across the stage in Glasgow, Marie stands not only as a graduate but as a symbol of how far passion, perseverance, and a commitment to lifelong learning can take you.
