Residents in West Bridgford have been urged to be vigilant following a number of burglaries in the neighbourhood.
Following the charge of Mark Lawson, 41 of Eugene Gardens who was charged with three house burglaries and two attempted burglaries last month and has appeared at Nottingham Magistrates Court on 18 March 2020. His next court appearance is 15 April 2020 at Nottingham Crown Court.
Lawson has been reported to have stolen electrical items as well as a handbag and purse between January and March of this year.
PC Freestone said: “I feel it’s important to warn residents to keep vigilant and report suspicious activity in and around your neighbourhood.
“Recently the Lady Bay area of West Bridgford has been hit with numerous burglaries and shed breaks, so it’s important people continue to look after their outbuildings.
“We will be increasing patrols in the area to reassure local residents and prevent any further breaks.
“We have also spoken to numerous victims of burglaries over the past two years in the West Bridgford area who kindly answered various questions regarding security measures and what they have done since to deter criminals.
“A high number of victims stated only that after being burgled did they put in any security measures.
“It’s important that the community can ensure that their property is safe to protect themselves from being targeted, help the police combat crime and spread awareness about on-going issues.
“It’s also very important residents aren’t afraid of calling the police to report suspicious activity via 101 or 999 as any information gathered could later prove to be key.”
To make a report, call the force by ringing 101.
