Cases in England

A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

Between 2 October 2022 and 8 October 2022, 61,809 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 21.1% compared to the previous 7 days.

Vaccinations in England

Vaccines are given in several doses.

45,288,388 people had been given a first dose by the end of 9 October 2022.

42,737,455 people had been given a second dose by the end of 9 October 2022.

33,641,741 people had been given a booster or third dose by the end of 9 October 2022.

Healthcare in England

Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.

Between 4 October 2022 and 10 October 2022, 8,198 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 3.7% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 10,608 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 12 October 2022.

Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.

There were 221 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 12 October 2022.

Deaths in England

Between 2 October 2022 and 8 October 2022, there have been 631 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 14.9% compared to the previous 7 days.
