£200,000 cannabis grow discovered in Mansfield

Nobody was arrested as the property was unoccupied at the time of the raid.

Police in Mansfield seized more than £200,000 worth of cannabis plants after officers raided a property in Forest Road, Mansfield, shortly before 8am on Friday.

Inside they found a total of 319 plants in multiple rooms in the property. Had they been fully cultivated it is believed they would have had a street value of more than £200,000.

Nobody was arrested as the property was unoccupied at the time of the raid.

The plants have been removed from the property and will now be destroyed. An array of sophisticated growing equipment has also been put beyond use.

Sergeant Neil Priestley said: “We had had concerns about this property for a while and had been building an intelligence picture into what was going on inside. When we finally put the door in Friday morning we discovered that most of the property had been turned into a drugs factory – with mature cannabis plants in every upstairs room and in the loft space.

“Cannabis cultivation is a serious offence that is often linked to organised criminality and a range of serious offences – from significant incidents of violence to people trafficking. We take any reports we receive incredibly seriously and won’t hesitate to take action where we think there is evidence of a cultivation.

“This was a large and sophisticated operation that would have sent large quantities of drugs into our community. We are delighted that we have manage to disrupt it in this way and will now do all we can to bring those responsible to justice.”
