Armed officers and helicopter deployed to St Ann’s this evening after reports of man with a firearm

Armed officers and the police helicopter were dispatched to St Ann’s this evening (1 October) following a report of a man with a handgun.

It resulted in the arrest of two men and a woman on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and the recovery of an imitation firearm.

Inspector Paul Hennessy, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We received a call that a man had what appeared to be a hand gun tucked in the waistband of his trousers and three people acting suspiciously.

“Our helicopter crew were able to monitor the situation and armed authority was quickly granted which resulted in three arrests less than an hour later.

“Firearms offences are taking extremely seriously and we work to remove all dangerous weapons off our streets.”

The three people remain in custody while enquiries continue.
