A man who joined in on an unprovoked attack that left a victim with a metal plate in his jaw has been jailed.
Otis Wilson, 32, and his friends assaulted the man in the early hours of 22 August 2021.
As a fight broke out between Wilson and his friends and another group of men, the victim – a bystander to the incident – filmed the altercation on his mobile phone.
Wilson and the group were caught on CCTV in the Lace Market turning their attention to the victim after they saw him recording them.
They then launched an assault against him, forcing him to the floor as they kicked and stamped on his head and body.
The victim was left with a fractured jaw in two places which required him to undergo surgery where a metal plate was fitted.
Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on 25 April, Wilson, of Primrose Close, St Ann’s, was jailed for a total of 27 months after pleading guilty to affray and being found guilty of occasioning grievous bodily harm without intent.
Other suspects involved in the attack previously faced the courts in April 2024 and were sentenced.
Detective Sergeant Parminder Ahluwalia, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Otis Wilson and the group launched a vicious and unprovoked attack on a man who was simply enjoying the night with his friends.
“This kind of violence is unacceptable and I hope this sentence sends out a very clear message to others who think they can behave in a similar way that we will do everything to ensure they face the courts.”
