Identical twins from West Bridgford have been crowned national champions after winning two gold medals at the Swim England Artistic Swimming National Age Group Championships.
Alice and Florence Danielson, both aged 12 and students at Nottingham Girls’ High School, secured first place in both the duet and team competitions at the national event.
The sisters have been involved in artistic swimming since the age of five and say they hope to follow in the footsteps of their sporting idols, Kate Shortman and Isabelle Thorpe, who won Team GB’s first Olympic medal in artistic swimming at the Paris 2024 Games.

Alice and Florence first met Shortman and Thorpe early in their artistic swimming journey when they all appeared on a television programme called Meet The Experts. The twins say they have remained strong supporters of the British pair since then.

The sisters trained for five years with the locally based Bramcote Aquastars club before recently moving to Rugby Artistic Swimming Club, where they now train under head coach Hannah Secher.

Their double gold medal success marks a significant national achievement following years of training and competition in the sport.
