Cordon in place after late-night fight with bladed weapons outside Sutton-in-Ashfield Asda

Police are investigating and appealing for witnesses after reports of a group of males fighting with bladed weapons outside a supermarket.

Inquiries are ongoing after officers were called to the Asda in Priestsic Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, around 11.57pm yesterday (Friday 13 March 2026).

It was reported a group of males wearing face coverings were involved in the incident.
Our officers arrived on scene within minutes and carried out searches in the area.

A 17-year-old boy sustained a slash wound to his arm and a 24-year-old man suffered an injury to his elbow. Their injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening.

The victims are being supported. No further injuries have been reported.

A cordon remains in place while officers continue to investigate the incident and establish the full circumstances.

Detective Sergeant Adam Penn said: “We are treating this incident seriously and a team of detectives is working hard to locate those involved.

“I would urge anyone who saw what happened or who may have any other information which could help us with our inquiries, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, to please come forward and to speak to us.

“Similarly, we’d like to hear from anyone who may have recorded dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage which may assist us with our ongoing inquiries.

“We fully understand how concerning this will be within the community, however I want to reassure people that at this stage we are currently treating this as an isolated incident.”
