Arrest after two car key burglaries in one night

A suspect has been arrested after two car key burglaries occurred in one night.
An investigation was launched after a reported car key burglary in Netherton Road, Worksop, happened around 3.30 am on 8 March.

The vehicle was stolen from the victim’s driveway after an offender had broken into their address and taken the car keys.

It was then returned twenty minutes later.

An hour later the same night, another report came in that a break-in had occurred – this time at a property in Hardwick Crescent.

Car keys taken from the property by two suspects were used to unlock and steal a car parked outside.

Officers were quick to attend the scene and began the search for the vehicle.

It was then located abandoned with extensive damage on Kenilworth Close.

Officers have been studying CCTV footage from nearby and carrying out other enquiries.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of two counts of burglary with intent to steal on Wednesday night (11 March).

He has since been released on police bail as the investigation continues.

Detective Sergeant James Hirst, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Burglary is an incredibly invasive crime that often strikes right at the heart of where people feel safe – their homes.

“We understand the impact any sort of theft has on a person or family and the effect it can have not only financially but also emotionally.

“That’s why we always do what we can to bring those responsible to justice, and I’m glad to share that we’ve arrested a suspect in connection with these two incidents.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing into exactly what happened, though, so I’d encourage anyone who has any information to call the police on 101, quoting incident 97 of 8 March 2026, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
