Police officers on patrol in Underwood were met with an unusual sight after a scarecrow festival mascot was found “on the run”.
PC Brown and PCSO Cupit discovered the figure of Shaun the Sheep, this year’s Underwood Scarecrow Festival mascot, after it appeared to have been blown from its display and ended up in a nearby bush.
The officers recovered the runaway mascot, which is believed to have been displaced during recent windy weather, and returned it to its original position.
Despite what police described as an “animal language barrier”, Shaun has now been safely reinstated and is back overseeing the festival.

Local residents are being encouraged to report any further unusual or “woolly” incidents as the event continues.
