Nottingham City Transport has warned passengers to expect delays and diversions across several routes next week, with roadworks, resurfacing projects and temporary closures affecting services in Nottingham, Southwell, Arnold, Silverdale and Stanford-on-Soar.
The operator says South Notts buses are diverting through Hoton and Cotes via the A60 and A6006 because of roadworks in Stanford-on-Soar. Stops in Stanford-on-Soar and on Station Boulevard in Loughborough cannot be served, and delays are being reported across the service, with the worst disruption expected at peak times.
Several city services are also being affected by ongoing works. The Grangewood Road stops used by Pink 30 are closed because of roadworks, with passengers advised to use Wharfedale or Eyam Close instead. Green 7 is being delayed by works on Melton Road near Valley Road, where the Valley Road stop towards the city is closed.
At Newark Bus Station, Pathfinder buses are using Bay E instead of Bay A because of an issue with the doors at Bay A.
Works around the Crown Island area are continuing until Monday 27 April and are expected to delay Pink 28 and Grey 53 and 54. Lane closures are in place, and stops at The Crown and Jubilee Campus may be withdrawn between 9.30am and 3.30pm, with temporary stops provided.
A major Nottingham City Council resurfacing project in the Aspley area is also under way and is due to continue until mid-June. The work includes Coleby Road and Denton Green. In the early stages, contractors are carrying out preparation works using temporary traffic lights and lane closures, but diversions are expected to begin from early May. Nottingham City Transport says delays are likely on Orange and Turquoise services during the works.
Footpath improvement works on Nuthall Road, between Western Boulevard and Melbourne Road, are also expected to continue until the end of July. These works are taking place on weekdays during the daytime and may involve lane closures and temporary stop closures.
Westleigh Road remains closed in both directions for Severn Trent works until Saturday 2 May. Turquoise services are diverting via Denton Green, Bradfield Road, Strelley Road, Moor Road, Helston Drive and Flamsteed Road, depending on direction. All bus stops on the diversion routes are being observed.
Other ongoing disruption includes the closure of the Chadwick Road stop for buses towards Strelley and Bulwell because of Alfreton Road crossing works. Passengers are advised to use the previous stop at Gregory Boulevard.
The University East Entrance stop is also not being served by Grey 53 and 54 towards Arnold while works continue on the A52 between Priory and QMC roundabouts. Nottingham City Transport says this is to minimise delays caused by buses queuing to leave the Ring Road at Dunkirk.
The one-way traffic restriction on Derby Road between QMC and Priory roundabouts also remains in place until late spring as part of National Highways carriageway reconstruction works. Orange Line buses are diverting on journeys away from the city centre via Clifton Boulevard and University Boulevard, with delays possible on a wider range of services as traffic adjusts to the layout.
At City Hospital, Linden Way remains closed to traffic until 31 May. Blue Line buses are using alternative routes through the hospital campus and via Edwards Lane, with stops at the Purple Car Park and Yellow Car Park not being served.
More disruption is expected from Monday 27 April, when Westerfield Way in Silverdale will be closed in part for three days. Between 8am and 3pm each day from Monday 27 April to Wednesday 29 April, Navy buses will divert and miss the Quinton Close stop. Buses will operate on a hail-and-ride basis while using Westerfield Way.
QMC Island will also be closed overnight from Monday 27 April until Friday 1 May, between 8pm and 6am each night. Orange 35 towards Bulwell will divert after Faraday Road and will not serve Hillside or QMC Main Entrance. Passengers are advised to use Faraday Road. Orange 36 towards Chilwell will follow its daytime diversion via Clifton Boulevard, Beeston Road and University Boulevard.
Further evening disruption is expected in Southwell, where works on the A612 Nottingham Road will affect Pathfinder buses on Thursday 30 April and Friday 1 May between 8pm and 6am. Buses will divert via Lowdham, Epperstone, Oxton and Allenby Road. Passengers using Lowdham War Memorial are being advised to check the destination of the bus, as the same stop will be used for journeys in both directions.
In Arnold, Surgeys Lane will be closed on Saturday 2 May between about 9am and 2.30pm for Severn Trent works. Lime buses will follow the 58X route in both directions via Coppice Road and Beechwood Road and will display 58X. Stops in Arnold town centre will continue to be served, but stops on Birchfield Road, Homefield Avenue, Surgeys Lane, Calverton Road and Church Street will not.
Passengers are advised to check live bus times before travelling, allow extra time for journeys and use alternative stops where closures are in place.
