A jubilant homecoming celebration took place yesterday (Tuesday 26 May) in Nottingham city centre to mark Notts County’s promotion to Sky Bet League One.
An estimated 8,000 supporters gathered at Old Market Square to see the squad lift the League Two Play Off trophy, following their incredible 3-0 victory over Salford City at the Play Off Final on bank holiday Monday (25 May) at Wembley Stadium.

The players joined by Head Coach Martin Paterson took to the Council House balcony above a ‘Notts Are Going Up’ banner to show off the trophy and celebrate their win with the fans.

During the event, a formal civic reception took place in the Council House ballroom with the Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Councillor Cheryl Barnard, and the Leader of Nottingham City Council, Councillor Neghat Khan.

The promotion sees Notts County re-enter English football’s third tier for the first time since 2015.
Councillor Neghat Khan, Leader of Nottingham City Council, said: “I want to offer our warmest congratulations to Notts County on a truly outstanding achievement in securing promotion to League One. This is a proud moment not just for the club, but for the entire city and the generations of supporters who have stood by the Magpies through every high and low.

“Yesterday’s event was a fantastic showcase of the passion, pride and unity that make Nottingham such a special place. Seeing thousands of fans come together to celebrate their team was inspiring, and it underlines the powerful role football plays in bringing our communities closer.
“We look forward to seeing Notts County continue to thrive in League One and carry the spirit of Nottingham with them every step of the way.”
