Firefighters have tackled two large field fires in Nottinghamshire at the same time, with eight fire engines sent to each incident.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews had worked throughout the afternoon and evening responding to a range of incidents and keeping communities safe.
One of the largest fires broke out off Eakring Road in Mansfield, where images captured by the service’s official drone showed the scale of the affected area.
The fire service later confirmed the Mansfield incident was drawing to a close.
A second similar fire was tackled near Willow Tree Close in Bulwell. Crews were also beginning to leave that scene by the evening.
A Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Firefighters have been working hard all afternoon and evening to tackle a range of incidents and keep communities safe.
“Notably, we have had two simultaneous field fires with eight fire engines in attendance at each.
“Huge well done to everyone involved in responding to these incidents and thank you, our communities, for your patience and support while we’ve dealt with these fires.”
The incidents follow renewed warnings from the fire service urging residents not to light garden fires during the prolonged spell of hot weather and tinder-dry conditions.
Fire control operators have continued to receive reports of garden fires while crews have been committed to major outdoor incidents elsewhere in the county.
The service has warned that fires can spread extremely quickly in the current conditions, putting people and property at risk while tying up emergency resources.
Residents are being asked not to have garden fires or use disposable barbecues, to dispose of cigarettes carefully and to take rubbish home when visiting the countryside.
