Three burglary suspects were arrested at an address after officers were led there by a newly qualified police dog.
Police were called to Western Boulevard, Wollaton, following reports a pub there had been broken into by multiple people.
The pub was ransacked by intruders, with jewellery, stocks of alcohol and car keys among the items taken, around 2.30am on Friday (21 August).
Having been alerted to the burglary, multiple policing teams made their way straight to the location, including PD Kylo and his handler PC James Sills.
Within seconds of arriving at the scene, the Belgian Malinois, a recent recruit to Nottinghamshire Police having completed his initial training in April, had picked up a scent and started tracking it down neighbouring streets.
At this point, he started to track with his handler in the direction of the front door of one house in particular, which prompted PC Sills to raise the alarm with other officers to check that premises.
When police then visited that address, three suspects matching the description of those involved in the break-in were discovered inside.
Three men, aged 34, 34 and 42, were all subsequently arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Sergeant Nicholas Dachtler, of Nottinghamshire Police’s dog section, said:
“This incident showcased exactly why we deploy police dogs when investigating a crime.
“The team did a fantastic job quickly tracking to this address, which was found to contain three burglary suspects.
“PD Kylo is a young dog but it’s fair to say he’s made a very impressive start to his policing career and is a great addition to our department.”
