A person has been hit by a train on the Newark route

East Midlands Railway announced the incident at 10:55 am on Monday 6 November.

EMR said:

‘We are sad to report that a person has been hit by a train. This has occurred between Lincoln and Newark Castle is disrupting our trains on the Leicester/ Lincoln/ Grimsby and Newark Northgate – Lincoln routes.

‘Emergency services are en-route to manage the incident. Network Rail are also sending a team to site. They are expected to arrive at 11:10.

‘Trains running through the area in both directions cannot run between Lincoln and Newark Castle and Newark Northgate.

‘We have requested bus services to run instead of trains in this area.

‘At present we are expecting the line to re-open in the next 3 hours. As soon as the line is open again, our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 14:30.’
