The A46 in Leicestershire remains closed southbound between the A6 (Wanlip) and A5630 (Anstey), due to a serious collision involving 3 cars and a lorry that was reported at 18:00 on the 17/02/26.
The northbound carriageway was reopened at approx.05:00am.

2 pm Wednesday – Recovery and clear up works are now complete. Resurfacing of the carriageway is now underway for a 300 metre spillage of diesel and hydraulic fluid following the collision.
The carriageway will remain closed throughout the afternoon, with no times for reopening of the road due to the serious nature of the Incident.
Diversion Route:
Southbound traffic is advised to follow the solid diamond diversion symbol on road signs:
- From A46 Wanlip Junction, take the first exit for the A6 south into Leicester.
- At the A563 Leicester Ring Road roundabout, take the A563 west and follow for 3km heading straight over the three roundabouts on the route.
- At the roundabout with the A5630, head north-west on the A5630 until it rejoins the A46 at the Anstey Junction.
