A complex and lengthy recovery operation is likely to be ongoing into the afternoon.
Diversion Details
Traffic is being diverted via the following route:
- Exit the A52 Gamston Island and take the exit onto the A6011 towards Nottingham.
- Follow the A6011 for approx. 2.8km and at the signalised junction just past Lady Bay Bridge, turn right onto Meadow Lane.
- As the next roundabout, take the second exit onto the A612 and follow for approx. 11.5km until the roundabout in the village of Lowdham.
- Take the last exit onto the A6097 and continue until the roundabout with the A46.
- Take the A46 southbound to rejoin the eastbound A52 at Saxondale Island.

The fire service said at 11:53 am on Thursday 23 October:
‘Three fire engines are in attendance at an incident where a digger, which was being carried by a lorry, has overturned and crashed into a bridge on the A52.
‘Radcliffe Road is closed – please avoid the area where possible whilst we deal with the incident.’
