Arrest after burglary at Southbank Bar in Nottingham

An external door had been damaged and there was evidence to suggest the burglar had consumed a number of alcoholic drinks from within the premises.

Police arrested a man after responding to reports of a burglary in progress at a Nottingham bar.

Response officers were called to The Southbank Bar, in Friar Lane, at 5.50am on Wednesday (12 March) after a member of staff arrived at the premises and discovered a burglar inside.

The officers arrived within a few minutes and arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of burglary. He was then taken into custody for questioning.

An external door had been damaged and there was evidence to suggest the burglar had consumed a number of alcoholic drinks from within the premises.

PC Ben Harwood, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Thanks to the rapid response of our officers, we were able to arrive at the scene of this incident within minutes and detain a suspect.

“We treat all reports of burglary seriously and officers will always be instantly dispatched to burglaries in progress.

“I hope this arrest provides reassurance that business crime will not be tolerated in Nottingham and we will do everything in our power to ensure offenders are caught.”
