Arrest after man flees stop and search in Nottingham

A man has been arrested after reportedly running off while officers attempted to search him.

The attempt to flee was cut short as officers quickly caught up with him. Officers are also believed to have seen an object being dropped during the chase and minutes later they recovered a knife which was on the ground.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and possession of a bladed article in a public place. He was also arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle whilst over the specified limit of a controlled drug, after he provided a positive drug wipe sample.

Sergeant Adam Brown, of the city north Operation Reacher team, said: “This arrest is a great example of proactive policing and shows that by the officers trusting their instincts we managed to make an arrest.

“Officers work extremely hard to keep the people of Nottinghamshire safe and we know the impact that weapons and drugs can have on communities.”
