Arrests after drugs discovered in car at Meadow Lane filling station

Two men were arrested after police discovered drugs inside a car.

Officers approached the white Skoda Yeti after it pulled into a petrol station in Meadow Lane, Nottingham, on Tuesday afternoon (8 April), as the vehicle was linked to a disqualified driver.

Two men were inside the car and checks found the driver was indeed banned from the roads.

When officers carried out a search of the car, they found a brick-sized bundle of suspected Class A drugs, believed to be cocaine, inside the glove box.

A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“This was a great bit of work by our officers which led to illegal drugs being seized.

“We are constantly on the lookout for vehicles we believe may be involved in crime and continue to work every day to ensure any people using our road network for criminal purposes are brought to account.

“I’m pleased these harmful drugs have now been taken off the streets and two suspects are in custody.

“Illegal drugs ruin lives and destroy communities. That’s why the force treats drug-related crime so seriously and continues to work tirelessly to crack down on this sort of offending.”
