Balaclava-clad robber wields suspected blade in electric bike robbery

Police are appealing for information following reports a boy had his electric bike stolen in Bestwood.

The victim was reportedly stopped by three men at Bestwood Park Drive West, at around 7.15pm on 1 September.

A man – described as being white, approximately 5’9” and of medium build, who was wearing a grey tracksuit and black balaclava – allegedly flashed the handle of a knife from his trouser waistband.

The other two males at the scene were both wearing black balaclavas and black coats, with one being described at around 5’11” tall, and the other estimated to be about 5’8”.

The man then stole the victim’s e-bike and accompanying helmet.


Detective Constable James Bravant said:

“We are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information about the incident to come forward without delay.

“This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable, and we are doing everything we can to trace the offenders.

“As part of our inquiries including reviewing CCTV and speaking to witnesses, we’d like to hear from anyone else who was in the area around the time of this incident.

“This includes those who may have spotted the Carrera electric bike advertised for sale, which is described as being grey with a distinctive red stripe.”
