A charity event to mark 20 years since the legendary football manager Brian Clough passed away will include a special message from his son Simon.
The special ‘Green Jumper’ Cloughie tribute will be held in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, on Friday 20th September, the 20th anniversary of Brian’s passing.
Proceeds from the multi-media Q&A event will go to the West Bridgford-based homelessness charity, The Friary.
Best-selling author and Green Jumper pod host Marcus Alton, who has written five books about Cloughie, will be recalling behind-the-scenes stories about Brian, including the times he interviewed the miracle manager.
He will also talk about his latest book, ‘Brian Clough The Lost Tapes,’ which is helping to raise money for Nottinghamshire Hospice and the children’s charity, the NSPCC. The evening will include an auction of memorabilia.
Marcus and event host Neil Kendrick have taken part in a number of charity Q&A events this year, raising hundreds of pounds for local good causes. Marcus says it will be a special moment to play an audio recording from Simon Clough.
“It promises to be an unforgettable and emotional evening,” said Marcus. “People never get tired of hearing Cloughie stories and I’m pleased to say there will be some special archive recordings as well as a wonderful message from Simon Clough.”
Marcus will also be signing copies of his latest book, which has a foreword by the former Nottingham Forest player and manager Paul Hart.
The event will be held at the Lutterell Hall in West Bridgford and tickets, costing just £5, are available at the non-profit tribute website, www.brianclough.com.
The Chief Executive of The Friary, Ben Talbot, said the evening would be a fitting tribute to a remarkable man who supported many good causes.
“We really hope this event will be well supported in memory of a legendary figure who put Nottingham on the map,” said Ben.
“As a charity, we are grateful for the sponsorship of West Bridgford Colts FC to stage this tribute event and for all those people who are giving up their time to make it happen.”
Marcus hosts the tribute podcast ‘Green Jumper,’ which has thousands of listeners in 80 countries. He was also the driving force behind the fund-raising campaign for the Brian Clough bronze statue which stands proudly in Nottingham city centre.
