A man has been jailed for 14 years after he was found guilty of a string of sexual assaults against children.
Andrew Greatbatch, now aged 56, was first reported to police in 2020 for abusing a young boy during the 1980s and 90s.
During the investigation into those allegations, another woman came forward and revealed further assaults committed by Greatbatch in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The victims each gave compelling testimonies about the abuse, which in both cases started when they were too young to understand what was happening.
Greatbatch, formerly of Bilborough, denied all the allegations against him but was found guilty by a jury at Nottingham Crown Court of four counts of indecent assault and four counts of gross indecency against his first victim.
In relation to his second victim, he was convicted of five counts of indecent assault, six counts of sexual assault, one count of inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity and one count of inciting a child to commit an act of gross indecency.
Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday, he was jailed or a total of 14 years.
He was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order that will tightly restrict his activities when he is freed from prison and prevent almost all contact with children.
Sergeant Nicole Milner, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Greatbatch repeatedly abused two primary school aged children for his own sexual gratification.
“Unsurprisingly this abuse has had a profound effect on the rest of their lives, and I am full of admiration for the bravery and determination they have shown in bringing this man to justice.
“Greatbatch will now spend a very significant period of time in prison and will be closely monitored on his release to ensure he poses no further threat to children.”
