CQC rates Loughborough homecare service as outstanding

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated ASD Support LTD as outstanding following its first inspection in March.

ASD Support LTD, 34 Bakewell Road, Loughborough is run by a company of the same name, it provides care and support to people living in supported living settings. CQC carried out this inspection as part of its routine monitoring of services.

CQC assessed the service using its right support, right care, right culture guidance. This guidance assesses whether a service guarantees autistic people and people with a learning disability the respect, equality, dignity, choice, independence and access to local communities that most people take for granted.

CQC has rated how effective, caring and responsive the service is as outstanding, and how safe and well-led it is as good.

Greg Rielly, CQC deputy director of adult social care in the east midlands, said:

“During our inspection of ASD Support LTD, we found an exceptional service providing highly personalised care for people that was helping them achieve positive outcomes.

“It was lovely to hear how positive people were about the service. Every relative we spoke to also told us they were very happy with the service and quality of the care. They told us how much their family members had progressed since being supported by the service in ways they never thought possible. Staff kept relatives up-to-date and encouraged them to be actively involved in people’s care.

“The service supported people to set meaningful goals and achieve these. They helped them access volunteering opportunities, pursue hobbies, enjoy their favourite pastimes, and improve their health and wellbeing. People had many photos of their achievements and experiences which documented their lives and progress and could be shared with relatives.

“Staff worked with people to understand the individual challenges they faced and help them overcome these. Some people who joined the service had unaddressed mental and physical health needs. Staff worked closely with health and social care professionals to ensure these needs were met. As a result, people experienced reduced distress and were supported to remain comfortable and free from pain.

“This excellent care was underpinned by strong leadership. Leaders made sure there were enough qualified and experienced staff and provided them with support, supervision and development opportunities. People and their relatives appreciated receiving support from a consistent staff team that knew their needs well, and managers worked to understand people’s personalities and match them with specific staff accordingly.

“ASD Support LTD demonstrated exemplary care and compassion, and our report highlights the positive impact this was having for people. We look forward to following their future progress and plans.”
