A BMW driver who was involved in a two-car collision near Alfreton was found to be more than four times the drink-drive limit.
The 34-year-old had crashed his high-powered car into the back of another vehicle in Nottingham Road, Somercotes, on the evening of December 18.
Police said:
‘Luckily, no one was injured in the collision but the first officer on scene could smell alcohol on the breath of the driver.
‘Once his dog was safely secured, the man gave an evidential breath test and blew 153 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35.
‘He was arrested and charged, and will appear in court at a later date.
‘We’re releasing this footage to remind people of the very real dangers of driving under the influence of drink or drugs. If you’re arrested, you face losing your licence and your livelihood. Not to mention a potential prison sentence.
‘But the consequences can be so much worse than that. You could lose your life, or kill someone else.’
