Driver reached 100 mph during police pursuit through Mansfield and Oxton

A 44-year-old motorist has admitted dangerous driving after a police pursuit through Mansfield and Oxton during which speeds exceeded 100 mph.

Adam Rowley drove a Ford Puma through several red lights, swerved across the road and repeatedly travelled at more than twice the speed limit.

At one point, he reached 85mph in a 30mph zone. Police also recorded the vehicle exceeding 100mph on more than one occasion.

The pursuit ended when officers stopped the vehicle on Oxton Road, Oxton, during the early hours of Tuesday 18 August.

Rowley, of Ruffs Drive, Hucknall, was arrested and charged with dangerous driving.

He pleaded guilty at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 19 August and was released on conditional bail ahead of sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court on 18 September.

His bail conditions prohibit him from sitting in the front seat of any motor vehicle. He has also been disqualified from driving on an interim basis until his next court appearance.

Nottinghamshire Police said nobody was injured during the incident.
