Easter Egg thief jailed on three shop theft counts

A shoplifter who stole £100 worth of Easter eggs has been tracked down by officers following three thefts.

Jordon King, of no fixed address, was jailed for eight weeks when he appeared in Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday (28 March) as he pleaded guilty to three counts of shop theft.

Shops were targeted at various times between 27 February to 27 March, as the offender stole Easter eggs, nappies and washing pods from supermarkets in Radford.

King was identified from CCTV images of the incidents and arrested by officers from the Radford neighbourhood policing team after a tip-off from the public.

He also pleaded guilty to resisting an officer when he was arrested on the morning of Thursday 27 March.

The 28-year-old further admitted to causing criminal damage to a Tesco Express on Alfreton Road back on 27 February.

King has been ordered to pay back the cost of the items stolen.

Inquiries remain ongoing for the second offender involved in the criminal damage incident.

Sergeant Matthew Leask, of Radford’s neighbourhood policing team, said:

“Shoplifting is not a victimless crime and can have a significant impact on retailers both financially and emotionally.

“We take shoplifting very seriously and I am pleased we have been able to get a repeat offender like King off the streets.”
