Five arrests after street fight in Nottingham city centre

Police have arrested five suspects after reports of a street fight in Nottingham city centre.

Officers arrived on scene within minutes of receiving a call about the incident in Wollaton Street, which happened around 8pm yesterday (Monday 22 December 2025).

Two men, aged 23 and 29, have been arrested on suspicion of affray.

Three more men, aged 23, 26, and 29, were quickly located nearby and also detained on suspicion of affray.

All five suspects remain in custody.

No serious injuries have been reported.

Inquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances. The fight is not believed to be linked to any previous incident in the city centre.

Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“We understand how disturbing it would have been for the public to see this incident unfolding but we hope these arrests will provide some reassurance to the local community. 

“Anyone who gets involved in violent disorder of this nature can expect a strong police response as it simply won’t be tolerated. 

“Officers remain in the area while our investigations continue and we’d urge anyone who saw what happened or who may have additional information or relevant footage of the incident to come forward without delay.”
