Four in court after man stabbed in Meadows street robbery

Four suspects have appeared in court accused of conspiring to commit a robbery during which a man was stabbed.

The victim had cash and a high-value watch taken from him after arranging to meet a man to buy a number of laptops.

When the victim arrived at the meeting point, in Hope Close, The Meadows, at around 4.45pm on 27 February 2025, he was attacked by four men.

His coat was slashed with a knife and he was punched and kicked before suffering a stab wound to his arm.

The offenders fled after taking the watch and cash from the victim.

Detectives have carried out extensive enquiries since the incident while supporting the victim.

Four men have now been charged with conspiring to commit robbery.

George Chirita, aged 20, of Lymington Road, Dagenham; 37-year-old Costel Ilie, of South Street, Romford; Ionel Radu, aged 49, of Armstrong Close, Dagenham; and 31-year-old Ionut Stoica, of Central Park Road, East Ham, London, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday (23 May).

All four will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 20 June 2025.

Radu, Stoica and Ilie were remanded in custody, and Chirita was bailed.

Chirita, Stoica and Ilie have also been charged with robbery in connection with the same incident.

Detective Constable Laura Morton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“The victim suffered a nasty wound and was understandably very shaken by the incident.

“I’m pleased our investigation has now seen these four suspects charged with serious offences.

“I would urge anyone meeting potential buyers or sellers of items to take every possible precaution to avoid becoming a victim of crime.”
