Eight people were arrested after a large group descended on a residential street and smashed up a car.
Police were called to Burford Road, Hyson Green, shortly after 8.30 pm yesterday (Tuesday) after an Audi A3 was attacked by a number of individuals armed with baseball bats.
The vehicle owner, who was inside the car when it was attacked, told officers he had got into an argument with a man on Snapchat prior to the incident unfolding.
The group left in two cars after attacking the vehicle. There were no reports of any injuries.
Minutes later, officers stopped a Vauxhall Astra in Lenton Boulevard and arrested its five male occupants – aged 18, 19, 19, 20 and 21 – on suspicion of affray and criminal damage.
Shortly after midnight, a Volkswagen Golf was stopped in Forest Fields and three males – aged 17, 18 and 18 – were arrested on suspicion of the same offences.
Officers are now appealing for further information about what happened.
Detective Sergeant Steve Dalby, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a large-scale disturbance and eight suspects are in custody.
“Our investigation is continuing today but we are satisfied this was an isolated incident and that there is no wider threat to the public.
“This kind of violence is utterly unacceptable and we are determined to bring all those involved to justice.”
Anyone with CCTV, dash cam or mobile phone footage that could assist the investigation is asked to all 101 quoting incident 658 of 17 January 2023.
