Illegal fishing at Cotgrave Country Park

Police responded to reports from the public.

Rushcliffe South Police said:

‘Officers were alerted to reports of illegal fishing at Cotgrave Country Park last week.

‘Two males were found to be fishing illegally without an appropriate license or permission for which they are currently under investigation.

‘They have been reported to the Environment Agency on a fixed penalty notice nd are part of an ongoing police investigation.

‘Operation Traverse looks to tackle illegal fishing and waterside ASB along rivers, lakes and waterways and officers will take positive action with regards to reducing this type of criminality in partnership with the Environment Agency.

‘Further patrols will continue to take place over the coming weeks and months and members of the public are encouraged to report these incidents to police by calling 101.’
