The 190km route, approximately 118 miles, will attract a global television audience of millions and will again be aired live on ITV4.

In 2018 the Nottinghamshire stage attracted 250,000 spectators to make it the largest sporting event in the county’s history, leading to our area enjoying an economic boost of £3.9 million being spent by participants and spectators on accommodation, food and drink and shopping.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Communities and Climate Change Cllr Abby Brennan met with local businesses on Central Avenue where the race will commence.

Frank Innes estate agents Tony Cotterill, James Darby and Jade Gartshore, Portello Lounge assistant manager Daisy Watson and Council Customer Services advisor Allison Smith celebrated the one-month milestone until the cycle race.

Cllr Brennan said: “It’s officially one month to go until The Tour of Britain comes to the Borough and local businesses and residents are now counting down the days until cycling’s superstars race through the Borough!

“It was great catching up with businesses including Frank Innes and Portello Lounge along Central Avenue who are among those who are excited about cheering on the top cyclists at the start which is on their doorsteps.

“The route will go right across the Borough in many villages and towns and is set to bring visitors and increase footfall into the area, boosting the local economy.

“We’re delighted parish and town councils and schools are getting in the spirit with celebrations in their communities and we are urging residents to join them and make the most of this prestigious sporting event.

“Please spread the word to friends and family, even outside of Rushcliffe and come and watch the spectacle in person on the day!”

Councillor John Cottee, Nottinghamshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, said:

“I cannot wait for the Tour of Britain to return to Nottinghamshire and, with just a month to go until some of the world’s best cyclists grace our county’s roads, the sense of excitement and anticipation is really stepping up a gear.

“Communities along the route are busy preparing to transform their towns and villages into a spectacular sea of colour to give the competitors a huge Nottinghamshire welcome as they make their way from West Bridgford to Mansfield on race day.

“The event will truly put Nottinghamshire on the international map, with a global TV audience of millions and the eyes of the world once again on us – and let’s not forget the thousands of people from outside the county who will come here to watch the race and enjoy everything Robin Hood Country has to offer.

“The two previous occasions the Tour of Britain passed through Nottinghamshire were a huge success and, once again, we’ve got a fantastic opportunity to attract more tourists to our wonderful county as well as get more people out on their bikes.

“It really will be a day to remember and I’m looking forward to welcoming everyone associated with the Tour of Britain to Nottinghamshire in a month’s time. It’s going to be fantastic.”
