A learner driver on the roads with no supervisor or L plates displayed had his car seized by police twice in one day.
Officers pulled over the car at Gregory Boulevard, Forest Fields, on Friday 9 May just past 8am to perform a document check.
The 38-year-old driver presented his provisional licence, but was driving without a supervisor and had no L plates displayed.
His car was seized on the spot and he was issued with a traffic offence report, but that didn’t deter him from trying to drive the car away from the recovery yard later the same day.
Luckily, the Radford Road response team were quick to spot him on Daleside Road, Sneinton, just 100 yards away from the yard at 1.20pm.
The offender was then handed his second traffic offence report of the day and had his car seized again.
PC Dan Bird, of the Radford Road response team, said:
“I’ve seen a few unusual things in my time as a police officer, but this was certainly a first.
“Driving laws are in place to protect all road users and simply cannot be ignored in this way.
“You can get fined up to £1,000 and receive six penalty points on your provisional license for driving without the correct supervision.
“Similarly, you can receive up to six penalty points for not displaying L plates.
“If the learner driver fails to do this, we will not hesitate to take the appropriate action.”
