Letter highlighting Petition of over 12,000 signatures to keep Rushcliffe out of Nottingham city sent to Government

Campaigners have submitted a letter to the Government calling upon Rushcliffe to be kept out of Nottingham City, and the proposal to scrap Rushcliffe Borough Council be reconsidered.

The petition was started by Rushcliffe Conservative Association and has hit nearly 12,000 people online, with hundreds more people more signing paper copies.

The petition highlights the work of Rushcliffe Borough Council, and the concerns of being ‘forced to join with Nottingham City in a new city council.’

In the letter sent to Jim McMahon MP, the Local Government Minister, Debbie Soloman calls on the government to undertake a referendum or public consultation on the plans and suggests that the Minister visits Rushcliffe Borough Council to see the great work it does, and why scrapping councils like Rushcliffe would do more harm than good.
