Mamba discovered in carrier bag during police raid

After a sweep of the address, police discovered a substantial amount of mamba – a form of synthetic cannabis and a Class B drug - hidden in a reusable bag.

Mamba hidden in a carrier bag was uncovered by police as they executed a search warrant in New Basford.

Officers attended a property on Sherwood Rise just before 9am on Sunday 27 April.

After a sweep of the address, police discovered a substantial amount of mamba – a form of synthetic cannabis and a Class B drug – hidden in a reusable bag.

Traces of suspected heroin, cocaine, and cannabis, scales, and a burner phone were also found.

A man, aged 36, was arrested on suspicion of possession with the intent to supply a Class A drug and a Class B drug.

He was also arrested on suspicion of possession of the class B drug cannabis.

The suspect has been granted police bail as inquires remain ongoing.

Sergeant Mark Southgate, of the city central neighbourhood policing team, said:

“Drugs can be the catalyst for many other crimes such as violence, shoplifting, robbery, and burglary, so any intelligence we gather around those dealing drugs will be acted upon robustly.”

“Warrants like this one play an invaluable role in allowing us to follow up on suspicions and clamp down on anyone who thinks they can get away with supplying and selling drugs.”
