Mamba seized in early morning drugs raid

Two people have been arrested after police executed warrants in Mansfield to prevent the harm being caused by illegal drug activity and crack down on those suspected to be dealing drugs.

Officers from the Mansfield North Neighbourhood Policing Team executed the warrants at two neighbouring flats in Crow Hill Drive at around 8am on Tuesday (20 January).

They were acting on intelligence after reports of people loitering near ground-floor windows throughout the day, who were handed small packages from a person inside.

After entering the properties, officers swiftly recovered the suspected Class B drug Mamba.

Synthetic cannabinoids, such as Mamba, are artificial chemicals that are smoked or consumed and can cause users to fall into an unresponsive state.

Officers also seized a quantity of cash, mobile phones, and scales.

A 42-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man were both arrested on possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.

They have both been released on unconditional bail while investigations continue.

Sergeant Carl Hunt, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Drug dealing and the associated criminality it brings has a detrimental impact on our communities and exploits the most vulnerable people in society.

“Tackling drug dealing is a priority for our neighbourhood team and warrants play a key role in helping us to remove drugs from the streets.

“We suspect that the property is being used as a makeshift serving hatch to sell drugs through the windows, with buyers coming and going throughout the day.

“We will continue in our relentless pursuit of those suspected to be dealing drugs.

“Criminals of this sort exploit vulnerable people, causing harm to our communities, and we are determined to do everything we can to tackle this issue head-on.

“We can’t work in isolation and need information from members of the public to target our operations effectively.

“We are asking the public to remain vigilant and if you see, or suspect something is wrong, please tell us.

“We would urge anyone who has any information about suspected drug activity in their area to report it to the police on 101, so that we can take appropriate action.”
