Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was left with serious injuries which officers believe was caused after he was punched in the head.
The 28-year-old was knocked unconscious after suffering a blow to the head following reports of a fight on Easthorpe Street in Ruddington, just after 9.30pm last night (Saturday August 21).
He was taken to hospital where a scan revealed he had a significant bleed on his brain.
As part of the investigation a 34-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody in connection with the assault, while further enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Sergeant Matthew Dumbrell, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This is a very serious incident that has taken place at a time when there would have been a lot of people out socialising in the area.
“The victim has been left in a very serious condition and so we would urge anyone who may have seen what happened to come forward immediately.
“We are committed to ensuring that those that conduct such criminality are brought to justice quickly.
“We are keen to speak to anyone that has any information regarding the assault. If you have any information please call 101 quoting incident number 732 of 21 August.”
