Changes to the Medilink timetable from Tuesday 9 May see the frequency change to every 12 minutes throughout the day, and every 10 minutes during peak times.
The all-electric Medilink service which connects the Queen’s Medical Centre and City Hospital with Queens Drive and Wilkinson Street Park and Rides provides key connections for patients, staff and students who attend, work, and visit the city’s hospitals.
The timetable remains relatively unchanged, with slight time alterations during the day.
The Medilink service at peak times will still run every 10 minutes, but during the day journeys will operate every 12 minutes.
This change in the frequency will mean that the buses are not on the road for the long hours of a normal operating day. It is hoped that this will help to improve vehicle reliability, as less strain is put on the vehicles and the batteries that make them run.
In addition, some route changes will be introduced to improve journey times, but this will not change the stops being serviced. Route changes include avoiding Dunkirk Island and Abbey Bridge towards QMC and using Triumph Road when heading towards Queens Drive to avoid traffic on Middleton Boulevard.
Medilink users will also benefit from an improved frequency in the early evening, with buses running every 20 minutes between 6 pm and 7 pm.
